Not what you think she is_
01 / Origin
The Gorilla persona was born from being underestimated. When I saw how people reacted to my work, I sensed a quiet disbelief — as if my effort somehow made it easier for others to say, "If she can do it, then anyone can."
That reaction struck a nerve. The project started from that frustration and the need to reclaim the narrative about what strength and self-definition can look like.
Choosing the gorilla was both deliberate and symbolic. The gorilla stands close to humankind — intelligent, expressive, capable of tenderness and power at once. It carries a misunderstood strength, often misread or diminished.
By placing the gorilla's face over my own, I turned that misreading into metaphor.
02 / Impact
The Gorilla image first gained attention in an unexpected space — one focused on beauty, travel, and luxury. Posted quietly as a Story, reactions came instantly. When shared on the feed, it spread quickly.
The post disrupted a space built on perfection. Its self-aware "imperfection" made people stop scrolling. Instagram pushed it beyond her usual audience. It became her highest-performing post.
